Badlands, South Dakota
A severe thunderstorm developed over the Black Hills near Custer, SD and began moving east. Radar showed the storm moving right towards the Badlands of South Dakota. I drove to the Pinnacles Lookout to hopefully photograph the storm as the sun set. The storm had weakened since moving off the Black Hills, but suddenly intensified just west of my location. The lightning show, backlit by the setting sun, made an outstanding photographic canvas.
