St. Onge, South Dakota
New Underwood, South Dakota
A line of storms began developing north of Belle Fourche, SD. I arrived at St. Onge, SD to find an impressive line approaching from the north. The lightning bolts were hammering down all around me, so I retreated south on I-90 towards Rapid City. Radar showed the line had weakened some, so I met my wife back in Rapid City for dinner hoping the storms would strengthen by the time they got to town.
After dinner, the storms were pretty much right on top of Rapid City, SD. I drove east on I-90 to get in front of the leading edge of the activity. I reached New Underwood, SD when the sun began to set and produced one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever witnessed.
